The regular meeting for the faculty of the Department of Statistics was held in a hybrid format via Zoom and in Padelford Hall, room C-301 at 12:30pm, June 2, 2025. Abel Rodriguez, Department Chair, presided at the meeting. Kristine Chan was recording secretary. 

Committee Reports 

  • Continuation of the PhD Curriculum discussion: The PhD Graduate Program Coordinator led a discussion on the PhD requirements, specifically exploring the development of new courses and the potential removal of existing ones. A brief conversation on the Applied Data Analysis Project (ADAP) took place but was deferred to the next faculty meeting. 

New Business 

  • End-of-year wrap up: The Chair reflected on the current academic year and shared plans for department initiatives for the summer and the upcoming year.
  • Seminar time change: Faculty have discussed shifting the department seminar from Fridays to Mondays to improve participation rates. Final confirmation of the new schedule will be made closer to the start of Autumn quarter.
