The regular meeting for the faculty of the Department of Statistics was held in a hybrid format via Zoom and in Padelford Hall, room C-301 at 12:30pm, April 21, 2025. Abel Rodriguez, Department Chair, presided at the meeting.

Committee Reports

College Budget: The Chair provided updates on CAS’s financial risk mitigation strategies and the implications on how it will impact departments. CAS will begin posting updates here as they become available: https://rethink.artsci.washington.edu/
Graduate Admissions: Because of the financial risk mitigation and uncertainty around funding, the Chair went over impacts on graduate admissions. The chair indicated that the number of PhD admission offers this year had been curtailed in order to ensure that we do not exceed our target.
PhD Curriculum Committee Report: The PhD Graduate Program Coordinator presented two sets of slides – one outlining committee report and proposals and another detailing the voting options for the PhD curriculum.

The meeting proceeded to the executive session and was later adjourned at 2:00 PM.
