Chair Remarks
Report on CAS Chair meeting with Dean Stacey

  • Due to the continuation of the pandemic, it is not clear how classes will be conducted during Fall quarter 2021 but the expectation is that classes will resume remotely or hybrid. The discussion is still ongoing.
  • Salary increases for faculty are still up in the air. We are waiting on approval of the state budget by the legislature, as well as information on any federal support for state.  More information will likely come in May 2021.
  • The state of finances of the CAS is okay but the College’s concern is not having enough retirements this academic year, which might affect hiring next year.

Minutes from the previous faculty meeting (3/1) were reviewed, voted on, and approved by the eligible voting faculty who were present.

Executive Session
PhD student reviews: The progress of current PhD students were reviewed. Some were deferred to another meeting due to the absence of a faculty member, lack of information, and/or lack of time to discuss.

There being no other items to discuss, the meeting passed to an executive session at 12:40pm and was adjourned at 2:00pm.
