By default, the department expects General Exams and Final Exams to be open to the public (i.e., not limited to department faculty or invited guests). After you submit this Exam Announcement Form, the exam will be publicly advertised through:

• Email flyers sent to the department mailing list
• Physical flyers posted on department bulletin boards
• An event page published on the department website and calendar

However, Section 1.1.1.3 of Graduate Policy 1.1 (https://grad.uw.edu/policies/1-1-graduate-degree-requirements/) allows students to petition for a restricted audience (i.e., limited to department faculty and invited guests only). Approval of these petitions is at the department’s discretion.
