Computing Resource Agreement Form

I agree to and will abide by the following rules:

  • Send all computing questions to help@stat.washington.edu.
  • Limit your computing and printing to Statistics Department related work only.
  • Minimize the disk space your files occupy by keeping your work organized and by deleting nonessential files. If you need any guidance or have any questions about how to best implement this, please contact help@stat.washington.edu.
  • Use the clusters systems for running large programs or simulations.
  • Use the photocopier instead of a laser printer to produce multiple copies or large documents. The Statistics photocopier is located in B-313D and the CSSS photocopier is located in the main CSSS office.
  • Only use the color printing (including the copiers) when absolutely necessary – be a good steward of department resources.
  • Log off of machines that you are not using to save power as well as to keep the number of concurrent software licenses to a minimum. Please don’t turn off your computer unless you are leaving for an extended period.
  • Respect software copyrights. Some licenses UW and Microsoft software is available for installation on private machines. Please ask us if you are unsure about any software.
  • Do not allow anyone access to your passport or computing equipment. Statistics computing facilities and resources are strictly reserved for registered users.
  • Do not eat, drink, smoke, etc when using Statistics computing equipment.
  • Read the Statistics computing information at https://stat.uw.edu/news-resources/computing
  • Read the UW Computing Policy information at http://www.washington.edu/computing/security/rules.html
  • Follow the Personal Use of University Equipment Policy at https://www.washington.edu/admin/rules/policies/APS/47.02.html
