The UW News highlights new research on climate change and greenhouse gas emissions led by Adrian Raftery, Professor in Statistics and Sociology, and Peiran Liu, former graduate student in Statistics. Their research, mentioned in Communications Earth & Environment, shows that emissions reductions about 80% more ambitious than those in the Paris Agreement are needed to keep warming within the critical 2 C threshold that is widely considered necessary for climate stability and to minimize climate-related risks – including excessive heat, drought, extreme weather and sea level rise.
