We are pleased to announce that Statistics Ph.D. student, Oliva McGough, has received a 2025  Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) award from the National Science Foundation (NSF). GRFP recognizes and supports outstanding students early in their careers who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) or in STEM education at accredited U.S. institutions. The five-year fellowship provides three years of financial support inclusive of an annual stipend.

Olivia would like to thank her faculty advisors, Daniela Witten (UW Professor of Statistics and Biostatistics) and Daniel Kessler (Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics & Operations Research, UNC Chapel Hill) for helping her with the application process and research project formulation, and for being such supportive advisors!

Congratulations Olivia!
