We are pleased to announce that Statistics Ph.D. student, Olivia McGough, has received an Early Career Award from the ASA Section on Statistics in Epidemiology, for her paper entitled “Valid F-screening in linear regression.” In this paper, Olivia proposes a new method for conducting valid inference in a linear regression model after a test of the overall null hypothesis. The paper includes an application of this method, where the regression analysis in a published epidemiological study is revisited using the new inferential framework.
Olivia will present her paper at the 2026 Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) to take place in Boston, MA in a topic-contributed session sponsored by SIE.
