The Department of Statistics is pleased congratulate David Marcano, Daniel Suen, and Hassan Nasif on their success with NSF’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). Both Marcano and Suen have been awarded GRFP fellowships, which cover tuition and provide a generous stipend for up to three years. Nasif was also recognized though an honorable mention.

The GRFP is a highly competitive program that recognizes and supports U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees in NSF-supported STEM disciplines at accredited U.S. institutions. Two awardees and one honorable mention is a remarkable success rate that speaks to the quality of our students and our program. Of the eight awards made in the category Mathematical Sciences – Statistics, the two awards given to University of Washington are the most of any other institution.
