We are pleased to announce that Dr. Elena Erosheva has been appointed as the Director of the Center for Statistics and the Social Sciences (CS&SS). She will begin her five-year term starting on July 1, 2022.

Dr. Erosheva earned her Ph.D. in Statistics from Carnegie Mellon University in 2002. She joined the University of Washington in 2002 as Research Assistant Professor, eventually rising in the ranks of Professorship. Dr. Erosheva currently is a Professor with a joint appointment in the Department of Statistics and School of Social Work, an affiliate faculty member in Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology (CSDE), and a core faculty member of CS&SS. As a CS&SS core faculty member, she served as the Director of Statistical Consulting from 2007 to 2016, and as the Associate Director from 2016 to 2022.
 
“I am excited to be the first CS&SS core faculty to take on the Directorship of the Center,” says Dr. Erosheva. “As someone who came to the University of Washington because of the Center, I look forward to contributing to the continued success of CS&SS in supporting inter- and cross-disciplinary collaborations and cutting-edge graduate training at the interface of Statistics and the Social Sciences.”
